Over 100,000 Acura Vehicles Now Equipped With Driver Assist Technologies

AcuraWatch™ is now standard equipment on MDX and RDX

Continuing to be a leader in luxury safety technologies, Acura has now sold over 100,000 units equipped with AcuraWatch™. Nearly half of all Acura vehicles sold so far this year carry the AcuraWatch™ suite of advanced safety equipment.

Research shows that millennial buyers place more emphasis on safety than older buyers do. Making AcuraWatch™ standard equipment on MDX and RDX is proof that Acura is listening—and customers are responding. The Acura MDX and RDX are two of the three best-selling luxury SUVs in the industry.*

Sensor Fusion Technology

AcuraWatch™ uses advanced sensor fusion technologies, combining the sensing capabilities of millimeter-wave radar and a monocular camera to keep the vehicle on track and help prevent or lessen the severity of a collision. Introduced on the 2015 TLX, AcuraWatch™ has since expanded to all of Acura’s core vehicles. It’s standard on all 2017 MDX and RDX models and available on all 2017 Acura sedans and SUVs.

Traffic Jam Assist coming soon

The AcuraWatch™ suite of technologies currently includes Collision Mitigation Braking System with Forward Collision Warning, also referred to as Automatic Emergency Braking; Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning; Lane Keeping Assist System; and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow. Later this year, Acura will add Traffic Jam Assist on certain models, providing increased driver assistance in stop-and-go highway driving.

“We are working toward a zero-collision society, and this approach is resonating strongly with younger luxury customers who show increasing interest in safety technologies,” said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of Acura. “Deploying active safety and driver-assistive technology broadly is one way we are taking care of our customers and differentiating Acura.”
