The auction was for the highest-selling designated vehicle identification number (VIN) 001, and the winner of the auction was Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and founder of Hendrick Automotive Group. The $1.2 million purchase priced earned him the rights to custom order the first production model of this highly anticipated vehicle when it comes to market this spring.

A deeper look at the NSX

The Acura NSX is a cutting-edge, next-generation vehicle that will bring power and groundbreaking technology to the supercar segment. While the first-generation NSX was released a quarter-century ago, the 2017 NSX will break the mold as being a unique Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive power unit. Its exterior and performance is one of a kind, yet it doesn’t sacrifice comfort. Additionally, it is the only supercar designed, developed, and manufactured in the United States.

Passionate proceeds

All proceeds of the auction will generously go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, based in North Carolina, and Camp Southern Ground, based in Georgia. Camp Southern Ground is the passion project of Grammy® Award-winning musician Zac Brown.
