Overview

Continuing the trajectory established by the all-new NSX, Acura has turned its attention to the TLX for a comprehensive refresh for 2018. The restyled model represents a focused vision for Acura’s renowned midsize sedan, one that emphasizes a purposeful luxury design and a driving experience elevated by the latest in innovative tech features.

The TLX shares several key features with the resurrected NSX, including the Integrated Dynamics System, dual-clutch transmission, and exclusive torque-vectoring on models with Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD®).

The exterior has been redesigned with a more aggressively sporty look, while the interior showcases Acura’s restyled Alcantara® and perforated leather seats. Contrast stitching and piping subtly enhance the interior, updating the traditional Acura aesthetic for a new generation.

In addition to the base TLX, the 2018 model is available with the choice of three different packages: Technology, Advance, and the all-new A-SPEC. The TLX starts at $33,000.*

The Perfect Ride for…

Drivers looking for a modern, undeniably attractive alternative to the dominant German sports sedans. With the latest refresh, Acura incorporates the latest technology and some smart design elements to create a truly competitive offering. The TLX also marks a return to the edgier designs of classic models like the Legend and the original 1991 NSX.

Drive & Handling

The 2018 Acura TLX is available with your choice of two thrilling engines. The standard mill is a 2.4L inline-4 that cranks out 206 horsepower and 182 pound-feet of torque, paired with the industry’s first eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with a torque converter. Precision All-Wheel Steer™ (P-AWS®) also comes standard, grounding the vehicle with responsive handling and control. The base TLX is EPA-rated at 27 mpg combined (23 mpg city/33 mpg highway).**

The TLX is also available with a 3.5L V-6 that delivers 290 horsepower with a nine-speed push-button automatic transmission and either P-AWS® or SH-AWD®. The engine incorporates Intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (i-VTEC®) for an impressive fuel economy rating of 24 mpg combined (20 mpg city/32 mpg highway) with front-wheel drive.** The all-wheel drive model maintains that 24 mpg combined rating with 21 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway.**

V-6 models with the A-SPEC package are rated slightly differently—23 mpg combined (20 mpg city/30 mpg highway) for front-wheel drive models and 23 mpg combined (20 mpg city/29 mpg highway) with SH-AWD®.**

Key Features

On Demand Multi-Use Display 2.0

The 2018 TLX is the first Acura model to feature the redesigned On Demand Multi-Use Display™ (ODMD™) touchscreen, which features clearer displays and a 30 percent quicker screen response. The bottom band provides a comprehensive view of the climate control system, while the rest of the display provides access to audio, navigation, and smartphone functionality as available.

A-SPEC Package

2018 TLX V-6 models are available with an all-new A-SPEC package inspired by the Acura Precision Concept and NSX. Highlights include a dark chrome Diamond Pentagon Grille, stunning red leather interior, and 19-inch rims. Black window trim, round dual exhaust outlets, a gloss black rear spoiler, and A-SPEC badging on the front fender and rear decklids further accentuate the impressive overall effect.

Alternative Options

The all-new NSX is a companion of sorts to the refreshed TLX, offering the inspiration for many of the model’s most significant advances. For longtime Acura enthusiasts, however, the NSX nameplate has a historic legacy that’s hard to match. The new NSX is designed to be just as approachable and easy to live with as the original, but it also features a sophisticated hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive system. With the 2017 NSX, Acura proves that efficiency and performance aren’t mutually exclusive. Visit Hall Acura Virginia Beach today to learn more.
