Save at the Pump with Acura

If you're ready to reduce your carbon footprint or find ways to save more money this year, fuel consumption is one of the best places to start. Acura has engineered the models in its lineup to offer outstanding fuel-saving features. From fully electric powertrains to aerodynamic designs, Acura keeps the environment—and your wallet—in mind.
Variable Valve Timing
Acura’s variable valve timing technology, i-VTEC®, is used in many engine options to increase performance as well as fuel economy and efficiency. It works by altering the timing of the valves by shifting the phase angle of the camshaft. If that sounds like a bunch of jargon you don’t really care about, just know that i-VTEC equals better efficiency. This technology is used throughout the Acura lineup on most models.
Turbo Powertrains
Much like variable valve timing can improve efficiency, so can turbochargers. The application of turbochargers may have started with the desire for faster vehicles, but it has an extra benefit. By using a turbocharger, Acura can use a smaller engine with less horsepower without creating a vehicle that feels sluggish. Small turbos provide the power you need to merge onto highways or pass another car but don’t drink fuel when you’re just driving normally. A great example is the TLX equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. With 272 horsepower, you might expect this car to be expensive at the pump but the premium sedan still achieves 31 mpg on the highway.*
Electric Performance
Acura's first EV model, the ZDX is coming soon. The automaker didn't rush to bring this model to market, choosing instead to perfect the ZDX and craft an all-electric SUV that perfectly blends technology, performance, and luxury.
